YOU BOOKED A PHOTO SESSION
You're having your portraits done! Yay! You're longing for beautiful images of your growing belly, your beautiful new miracle and your sweet family, so you booked a session to capture those special moments...but now you're nervous and dreading the session.
Most people feel self conscious about being in front of a camera (me too!). But my goal is to make this a fun and relaxing experience. I've done hundreds of photo sessions and by the end of the first click, the nerves will dissipate and you become a natural. Your newborn session will be one of your favorite sessions to date. Grab a cup of coffee, sit back, relax and watch me work with your sweet baby. Feel free to take behind the scenes shots, but don't forget to tag me! I love seeing everyones photos as I pose their littles.
This process will be easy, fun and an overall great experience for you and your family.
This is the fun part
This is one of my favorite parts! This is where things start to come together and where I get to see your style. Make sure you fill out the questionnaire, this will help me prep for your session.

Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful and memorable experiences a woman can go through. I am so excited that you have chosen me to capture this special time in your life. I provide a stunning client closet to each of my clients for their sessions. You get to choose through several designer gowns and with my help, we will make sure you select the most flattering dress for your growing bump.

Do you like pastels, neutrals or jewel tones? Do you want prop poses? Are there certain props you've seen on my page that you have to have? Do you prefer the table posing? Whats your favorite pose? Let me know your favorites and I will design a stunning custom set, just for your sweet babe!

Tips for a Successful Newborn Session
All props, backdrops and accessories are provided for your session. Each session is hand designed and customized for your baby. Props and accessories in my studio, are made to fit perfectly and safely. Please leave any commercial bought accessories behind. If you're looking for something specific, please bring this up in your consultation and I will do my best to have something made. If you have an heirloom item you'd like to use, I will do my best to incorporate it, but I ask that you limit it to one item.
Thoughts
Thanks so much for booking your newborn session with Nicole DeHoff Photography. After years of photographing newborns and having my own babies, this is what I have found works best in keeping newborns happy and sleepy during their session with me.
When photographing newborns the session prep must start prior to the newborn session. Following these steps is crucial to getting those sleepy, relaxed poses that we all know and love.
If you are nursing, please try and avoid anything that
may upset baby's belly for at least 24 hours prior.
Be prepared to nurse on demand during your session. If bottle Feeding, please bring extra bottles/formula for your shoot. Baby's tend to want to eat more frequently when they're being stimulated.
We will also feed baby upon arrival. If you are not nursing, I will handle the feedings, so you can sit back and relax!
Please have a pacifier on hand. Preferably the soothies
they send home from the hospital. This will help settle the
baby during posing. Pacifiers are not always used, but are helpful during the session. Using a pacifier for a short amount of time, will not cause nipple confusion. If you do not have one or forget to bring one, I have new ones on hand.
Please have baby in easy to remove clothing - button
or zipper sleeper. Nothing that goes over the head. If baby is asleep upon arrival, we will dive right into the session.
We do not want to wake baby if we do not need to. If you are participating in photos, please wear a neutral colored top. No patterns, bright colors or wording/pictures. We don't want to take away from baby! Same goes for dad and siblings!
Please keep baby awake for at least 30 min prior
to your session. This will eliminate extra time spent trying to get baby asleep. As a mom of five, I understand that this may be difficult. If you're having trouble, try giving baby a bath or playing with baby.
and your session
These shots are typically done at the end of the session. I ask that you have siblings come separately. This allows us to take our time, keeps the environment quiet and calm and also keeps the space safe for baby.
They are not guaranteed, as young children have a mind of their own and do not always cooperate. I do not force children to take a photo, but I do my best.
What you wear for your photoshoot can make or break your pictures. You want to stay away from too many patterns, neon colors and matchy matchy. I am here to guide you in choosing your outfits for your session.
During your session, we ask all parents remain in our waiting area. You're more than welcome to peek in throughout the session, but for safety purposes, we ask that you're in the waiting area.
The waiting area offers a wide variety of snacks and beverages that you are welcome to during your session.
Neutral colors are best if you are participating in family photos for your newborn session. I recommend sticking to white, cream, gray, or black shirts. Tank tops or t-shirts for women are great options & fitted t-shirts are great options for men. You may also pick from my maternity gowns if you want something a little more dressy. Please keep pants/jeans fitted and pockets empty!
The same principle applies to siblings! Neutral colors photograph best. Please leave the fun t-shirts for after the session.
